SPA and AFTRS: Business Essentials

Screen Producers Australia in partnership with Screen Territory is presenting a Business Essentials full day workshop in Darwin on Tuesday 5 September and Alice Springs on Thursday 7 September. Business Essentials is presented in association with AFTRS and covers the commercial framework in which producers must operate.

Business Essentials  is for both emerging as well as experienced practitioners and vital for startups while also serving as a refresher for established businesses. The covers legal structures, tax incentives and compliance, business planning, managing cashflow, production accounting, copyright and chain of title, rights negotiation, distribution and licensing agreements, cast and crew agreements, financial management of productions, fringes, and insurance.

The course is designed to provide producers with the essential information to start, develop and grow a film and television business.

Guest expert speakers will include Screen Producers Australia’s Owen Johnston and Mark Donaldson who will share their extensive legal and industrial policy expertise.

There will be a maximum of 12 places at each venue.
