Funding

Screen Territory supports screen projects, screen businesses and people in order to:

  • foster the development and production of distinctive and marketable Territory screen stories
  • increase production levels by attracting production finance to the Northern Territory
  • extend the creative and professional skills of Northern Territory screen practitioners
  • provide opportunities for audiences and Northern Territory screen practitioners to engage with screen culture through targeted events and activities.

Funding is for Northern Territory individuals, organisations and companies, except in particular circumstances, set out in the program guidelines for Story development and Production finance, where significant benefits to the Northern Territory can be demonstrated.

Changes to funding

Recognising the unique contribution of the screen industry to Northern Territory culture, the Northern Territory government has significantly increased the funds available for grants through Screen Territory in 2016/17 – providing an additional $506,000 for a total of $861,000.

The funding is focused on supporting the development and production of Territory screen stories and building industry capacity, with $590,000 allocated across these areas, as well as $51,000 for business and professional development travel.

Program guidelines have been revised and sharpened to assist an increasingly mature Territory screen industry to tap into the wealth of outstanding locations, unique ethnic make-up, and distinctive history of the Northern Territory to take their stories to the world.

Explore the new guidelines through the pages of this website or download them as pdf. Screen Territory plans to review these guidelines in December 2016.
