There’s a final flurry of events to inspire future film makers and celebrate the Northern Territory’s Screen Industry during the last weekend of the 2022 Darwin International Film Festival (DIFF).

Industry favourite, the Spark Short Film initiative returns for a 5th season tonight at Deckchair Cinema. Audiences can come and see Territory productions on the big screen, with four films made by four teams of local emerging filmmakers.

With support from the Northern Territory Government through Screen Territory, the Australian Cinematographers Society NT Branch is presenting a Panavision Cinematography Masterclass on Friday, 23 September and Monday, 26 September.

While the NT Screen Summit presented by Screen Territory will be held at CDU Waterfront campus over the weekend. The two-day symposium will feature a range of industry professionals and creatives including executives from ABC and SBS, award winning screenwriters and a special one-on-one session with acclaimed cinematographer – David Brill AM ACS.

The NT Screen Summit is the ‘screen industry event of the year’, designed to engage, inform and inspire screen practitioners of all career levels as well as broader stakeholders.

To round out the festivities industry professionals will be celebrated at the 2022 Australian Cinematographers Society (ACS) Northern Territory Awards, presented by Fujinon Fujifilm and Screen Territory on Saturday night.

The Northern Territory's finest cinematographers will be recognised at this prestigious event at Darwin's Deckchair Cinema, hosted by award winning actor Rob Collins.

Oscar winner John Seale AM ACS ASC, recognised as one of the greatest cinematographers of his generation and a legend of the Australian screen industry, is the guest of honour.

These events support the Territory film industry and cap off a week showcasing international, Australian and local NT emerging talents in the industry.

The Northern Territory Government continues to grow the Territory’s screen industry providing $45,000 of Screen Grant funding to the Darwin Film Society from Screen Territory to support DIFF 2022, the Spark Film Initiative and the Northern Territory Screen Summit.
