SPARK short‑film initiative returns in 2026

SPARK short‑film initiative returns in 2026

SPARK is designed to elevate early and mid‑career filmmakers through hands‑on development, dedicated mentorship and a funded short‑film production.

This year’s creative prompt, “In a pickle”, invites filmmakers to explore pressure, predicaments and the moments that reveal true character. Whether it’s a laugh‑out‑loud comedy of errors, a heart‑wrenching moral dilemma or a quiet battle of conscience, being in a pickle reveals who we really are when the stakes are high and there’s no easy way out.

SPARK will support the development and production of three original short films, giving Territory creatives the tools, guidance and industry‑level experience to take the next meaningful step in their careers.

Each selected project receives

  • $30,000 in production funding
  • An experienced story‑development mentor
  • An assigned executive producer
  • A premium Panavision camera and lens package, including technical and creative consultation
  • Professional post‑production support, including colour grade by Kojo and sound mix by Trackdown Studios
  • A public premiere at a curated SPARK showcase attended by industry guests and the wider community

Applications open: 8am, Monday 8 December 2025 (ACST) Applications close: 11:59pm, Sunday 8 February 2026 (ACST)
