Northern Territory stories take centre stage at the 2026 AACTA Awards!

The AACTA Awards are Australia’s premier screen awards for the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts, celebrating excellence across film, television and streaming.

Journey Home, David Gulpilil received 2 of the night’s top honours - Best Documentary and Best Original Score (Documentary) recognising a film that continues to move audiences through its powerful portrayal of legacy, ceremony and community. Congratulations to the filmmakers and creative team whose work honours the life and spirit of David Gulpilil.

Kangaroo also made its mark, with Deborah Mailman awarded Best Supporting Actress for her outstanding performance - a fitting recognition of one of Australia’s most respected screen performers.

And a huge Territory cheer for Miranda Tapsell, who won Best Acting in a Comedy for Top End Bub, continuing to bring NT stories to audiences across the country.

Congratulations to all nominees and winners. These achievements underscore the growing national and international impact of stories connected to the Northern Territory and the exceptional talent behind them.
