Sebastian Angborn to depart Screen Territory after eight years

After 8 years with Screen Territory, Screen Content and Development Manager Sebastian Angborn will depart the Northern Territory Government on 20 October 2026.

Sebastian joined Screen Territory in 2018 and has worked across screen industry development, funding, production support, workforce development and strategic engagement, working closely with Territory practitioners as well as producers, screen agencies, training organisations and industry bodies across Australia.

During his tenure, Sebastian has been involved in a broad range of initiatives supporting the development of the Territory’s screen industry and workforce. This has included the SPARK Short Film Initiative, various professional development and mentoring programs, workforce pathways and national industry engagement.

He has also played a significant role in bringing screen industry expertise to the Territory, including through contributing to the NT Screen and Cinematic Craft Summits, which in 2026 brought more than 45 commissioners, producers and craft leaders to Darwin for 2 days of panels, masterclasses and industry engagement.

Reflecting on his 8 years with Screen Territory, Sebastian said he was very grateful for the opportunity to work under the leadership of Jennie Hughes and for the time he had spent in the Northern Territory.

'I’ve been extraordinarily fortunate to have worked under Jennie’s leadership over the past 8 years. She has been a mentor, a trusted leader and a tremendous source of support and knowledge; giving me the confidence and freedom to take on challenges, grow professionally and contribute in ways I might not otherwise have had the opportunity to. I have enormous respect for her leadership, the care she brings to her work and her unwavering commitment to the Northern Territory and its screen industry. The trust she has placed in me has meant a great deal and I will always be grateful for it.

'I also leave with a deep affection for the Northern Territory and the people who make it such a special place. Eight years is a significant part of your life and in that time the Territory has given me friendships, experiences and opportunities that I will carry with me wherever I go. I’m incredibly proud of the work we’ve done and particularly of the relationships I’ve built with the people who make up this industry. It has been a privilege to play a part in its growth and I will always feel a strong connection to the Territory and its screen community.'

Screen Territory Senior Director Jennie Hughes acknowledged Sebastian’s contribution to the agency and the Territory screen sector.

'Sebastian has made an enormous contribution to Screen Territory over the past 8 years. His industry knowledge, strong relationships across the national screen sector and genuine commitment to creating opportunities for Territory practitioners have been invaluable, not only to Screen Territory but to the many people and organisations we work with.

'On a personal note, Sebastian has worked alongside me for 8 years, and I could not have wished for a better colleague. His professionalism, work ethic and the quality of his work are second to none. He has been an integral part of Screen Territory's growth and achievements over this time and I am immensely proud of what we have accomplished together.

'Of course, there comes a time when it's right to take on a new challenge, and for Sebastian, that time has come. While I will miss working with him enormously, I am delighted that he has this opportunity and have no doubt that our paths will cross professionally again.

'I sincerely thank Sebastian for everything he has contributed to Screen Territory and wish him every success and happiness in his new role overseas!'
