Jeremy Sims - Actor, director, writers and filmmaker
Jeremy Sims is one of Australia’s most accomplished actors, directors, writers and filmmakers, with a career spanning more than three decades across film, television and theatre.
A graduate of NIDA, Jeremy established himself as an actor through acclaimed performances across stage and screen. His credits include Idiot Box, Aftershocks, Fireflies, The Secret Life of Us, Underbelly, Swinging Safari and Mr Inbetween. His performance in Aftershocks earned him the AFI Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role in a Television Drama.
As a filmmaker, Jeremy has directed five feature films, beginning with Last Train to Freo, followed by the acclaimed WWI drama Beneath Hill 60, Last Cab to Darwin, documentary Wayne and Rams, starring Sam Neill, Michael Caton and Miranda Richardson.
Beneath Hill 60 received 12 AFI Award nominations, including Best Film and Best Director, while Last Cab to Darwin, which Jeremy directed, produced and co-wrote, received 13 AACTA nominations. Jeremy won the AACTA Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for the film.
His television directing credits include A Place to Call Home, Doctor Doctor, RFDS, Back to the Rafters and Home and Away.
Jeremy also has an extensive theatre career as both actor and director, working with companies including Sydney Theatre Company, Belvoir and Melbourne Theatre Company, as well as performing internationally in London and New York. He founded Pork Chop Productions in 1995 and has produced and directed theatre around Australia for decades.
With extensive experience as an actor, filmmaker and director, Jeremy brings a rare understanding of both performance and the filmmaking process to his work with actors.
